Certification Validity and Renewal Policy
Governance framework for certification lifecycle, renewal and credential status.
Overview of Certification Lifecycle
Strategic Value Streams certifications are awarded for a defined period of validity. The renewal framework ensures that active credentials reflect current knowledge, maintained professional competence and continued alignment with the Strategic Value Streams Body of Knowledge.
This policy applies to Foundation, Practitioner and Fellow certification levels and governs renewal, expiry, reinstatement and digital credential status.
Certification Validity Period
Foundation and Practitioner certifications are valid for 36 months from the date of successful examination.
Fellow status extends active certification validity by 36 months from the date of award.
The validity period applies irrespective of how the credential is displayed, referenced or represented.
Certification Progression and Renewal Supersession
Certification levels are cumulative and structured.
Where a candidate progresses to a higher certification level within the active validity period:
• The higher certification supersedes the renewal cycle of the lower level
• The most advanced active credential governs professional standing
• A new 36 month validity period begins from the date of award
For example, progression from Foundation to Practitioner replaces the Foundation renewal cycle. Progression to Fellowship governs overall certification standing.
Certification Expiry and Lapse
Upon expiry of the applicable validity period:
• Certification status lapses
• The designation may no longer be represented as active
• Associated digital badges and certificates are revoked
Expired credentials must not be presented as current certification.
Individuals may reference prior certification history provided it is clearly indicated as expired.
Reinstatement of Certification
If certification has lapsed and no higher active credential is held:
Foundation and Practitioner certification require successful completion of a new examination.
Fellowship renewal may require structured review and evidence of continued professional contribution as determined by the Fellowship panel.
A new validity period applies from the date of re-award.
Reinstatement does not restore the original award date.
Digital Credential Revocation and Verification
All active certifications are accompanied by a verifiable digital credential.
Upon expiry or lapse:
• Digital credentials are revoked
• Public verification records reflect inactive status
• Expired badges must not be displayed as active certification
Misrepresentation of certification status may result in removal of credentials and restriction of future eligibility.
Governance and Policy Review
The Strategic Value Streams certification framework is governed through structured oversight.
Validity periods and renewal requirements may be reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with the evolving Strategic Value Streams Body of Knowledge and professional standards.
Policy updates apply prospectively and will be communicated in advance.
